related to visual acuity loss, visual field or glare problems. Patients with Low Vision usually need an adaptation process because of their new visual situation, which can influence not only the patient but their families.

This is the reason why, a good family support makes easier the adaptation process to this new visual condition and helps visual rehabilitation.

The person must learn managing their new visual situation and be able to maximize it through new strategies and visual aids that enable achieving its objectives.

The most common conditions that cause low vision are, among others, age related macular degeneration (ARMD), diabetic retinopathy, high Myopia, cataracts, glaucoma or retinitis pigmentosa.

In order to start a visual recovery and therefore an improved quality of life, it’s necessary to overcome the first stage of acceptance of having Low Vision, that is, recognition of the limitations caused by the ocular pathology.

During visual rehabilitation we must create a positive environment.

This environment of the patient should allow to express his concerns, his doubts, his fears, and also to receive good information explained for each question. Through clear and defined goals previously agreed, we get success during visual rehabilitation preventing false expectations.

Through an individual and personalized Low Vision study, we evaluate any possibility of improving the visual performance. For this reason, it’s necessary to do a preliminary visual examination to determine the visual performance of the patient that enables the specialist to define the most appropriate visual aids for each case.
